early
life

I was born in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas where I enjoyed an idyllic childhood, as part of a large extended family, filled with fishing trips, Little League games and weekend barbeques. It seemed like the quintessential American small-town experience.

Patriotism and service to others is also a natural extension of that upbringing. The path started with the daily Pledge of Allegiance in elementary school and Cub Scout activities. As a teenager, I ascended to officer ranks in the Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps and would eventually enlist in the US Army as a Military Policeman.

As a Military Policeman (1984-1987)

I was stationed at Ft. Benning, Georgia, deployed to Honduras and finished my tour of duty in Mainz, West Germany.

My father was hired by the US Border Patrol (Class 130) and stationed in El Paso. After my Army tour of service, I followed him 10 years later (1988 Class 230) and was stationed in Del Rio.  My brother also joined the Patrol. Along the way I became an ordained minister, serving my fellow agents as their Chaplain and as a founding member of the US Border Patrol Chaplaincy Program. I retired in 2018 after I spent 30 years in service to our Nation. I could have stayed another five till mandatory age but God and America were calling to me.

retirement

Following my retirement, I became involved in the political arena as the campaign manager for grassroots conservative candidate, Raul Reyes in CD 23.

Later, I was the Val Verde County Republican Chairman and SREC Committeeman for Senate District 19. My resolve to preserve our conservative values lead to my starting the Val Verde County Young Conservatives Club and founding the CHAMPION Speaker Series (Conservative Heroes, Advocates, Mentors and Patriots Impacting Our Nation).

I am also active as a Border Security and Anti-Sex Trafficking Activist. Protecting life extends into my role as Advisory Board Member at the Amistad Pregnancy Care Center, a pro-life ministry. I have been a youth pastor, Sunday school teacher and Assistant Pastor. I currently attend at Del Rio Christian Fellowship.

My faith in Jesus Christ is central to my life and activities. Looking back, I can see that being stationed in Del Rio was part of His plan. It was the site of two (2) of the most pivotal moments in my life: I believed in Jesus Christ and I met my wife, of 30 years. Our Lord blessed us with twin sons. My personal guiding principle is quite simple: Worship God, Love my Family, Serve our Nation.
